Cannibal Ox is Vast Aire and Vordul Mega — a Harlem rap duo whose 2001 debut The Cold Vein, produced entirely by El-P, is considered one of the most important underground hip-hop albums ever made. Dark, cinematic, and claustrophobic in the best way.
Original pressings of The Cold Vein on Definitive Jux are the grail. Reissues exist, but collectors want the original. The duo released Blade of the Ronin in 2015 and a handful of follow-ups, but The Cold Vein is what the market chases.
